HOW IT WORKS
Three steps. One clear answer.
[01] DESCRIBE
Tell theScientist your idea. We pull out your unique value proposition and generate the assets you need to test it.
[02] TEST
Run real outreach to that audience. Capture proof that people are willing to pay, not just opinions.
[03] GET YOUR ANSWER
You get a clear result: Validated, Inconclusive, or Not Validated. Based on number of signups or preorders.

QUALITY CONTROL
How we make sure this is real
What we check
Every test uses real people and real actions, like signing up or paying, not surveys or opinions.
Where the leads come from
We use verified data sources to find your real audience. Your free market report shows you where they are and what they're already saying, before you spend anything.
How we avoid false positives
A single signup does not count as proof. We look for patterns across many people before calling something Validated. And the people who signed up or preordered are yours — your first set of customers.
VERDICT ENGINE
Every demand test ends with a clear answer
VALIDATED
Real people took real action. You get a short summary of the proof.
INCONCLUSIVE
Some parts worked, some didn't. theScientist gives you a sharper idea, audience, and channels to try next.
NOT VALIDATED
This version didn't find its market. You get 2–3 new directions, ready to test.

EXAMPLE RUNS
Three ideas. Three results. Same steps.
These are made-up examples. They show what each result looks like. Not real customers, just how the process works.
VALIDATED
THE IDEA
A meal-kit subscription for busy parents who don't have time to cook on weeknights. Targeted: working parents, ages 30–45, in big cities.
THE SIGNAL
Free report showed parents already active online, concentrated in three metro areas, complaining about weeknight cooking time. Ran a 14-day paid test to the 500 best-matching leads.
THE RESULT
61 signups, 14 paid to reserve a spot. That's 23 out of 100. VALIDATED.
INCONCLUSIVE
THE IDEA
A budgeting app for freelancers whose income changes month to month. Targeted: freelancers, ages 25–40, in creative jobs.
THE SIGNAL
Free report showed scattered activity around this problem, with no clear concentration anywhere. Ran a 14-day paid test to 400 leads.
THE RESULT
38 signups, only 3 paid. Not enough to say yes, not enough to say no. INCONCLUSIVE. theScientist adjusts and tries again.
NOT VALIDATED
THE IDEA
A social network just for people who collect old cameras. Targeted: photography fans, ages 35–60, in collector groups online.
THE SIGNAL
Free report showed very little activity around this idea online, a weak starting signal. Ran a 14-day paid test to the full list we could find.
THE RESULT
6 signups, no one paid. NOT VALIDATED. theScientist finds 2–3 new directions to try.
Every demand test ends the same way. With a clear answer, not a guess.

QUESTIONS
FAQ
How does your process work?
Tell theScientist your idea. We pull out your unique value proposition and generate the assets you need to test it. When you're ready, run outreach to your real audience and get your verdict: Validated, Inconclusive, or Not Validated — based on signups and preorders.
What is an asset?
An asset is everything you need to run the test: a landing page, an email sequence, ad creatives, landing page copy, and a go-to-market model.
What's free and what costs money?
Your first experiment is free — you get the market report, a landing page, and a verdict preview, but automated outreach is locked. To run a full experiment (lead sourcing + automated outreach + follow-ups), you buy a credit for $50. One credit runs one experiment. Buy as many as you need; they don't expire.
What counts as validation?
Real actions, like signing up or paying — not survey answers.
What happens if my idea is inconclusive?
You're not left stuck. theScientist adjusts your idea, audience, and channels so your next test is sharper.
Do I need to pay to try it?
No. Sign up and run your first experiment free. You only pay ($50/credit) when you want to run a full experiment with outreach.
Is this for non-technical founders?
Yes. Built for people who want proof before they hire, build, or spend money.
Is theLab live?
Yes — it's live now. Sign up and run your first experiment free today.
Do you keep my data?
Only as long as needed to run your test and send you your results.
How do you validate a business idea?
Find evidence the problem is real, then make real people take a costly action — signing up or paying — in response to your solution. Opinions and survey answers cost the giver nothing, so they predict nothing. theLab automates the second half: it builds the landing page, contacts a real audience, and reports what they actually did.
How do you test demand for a product?
Put the offer in front of people who match your target customer and count who acts on it. A landing page plus outreach to a real audience is the fastest honest version; preorders are the strongest signal because they cost the buyer money. Pageviews and positive replies are not demand.
What's the difference between market validation and product validation?
Market validation asks whether enough people want the problem solved at all, and can be tested before you build. Product validation asks whether the thing you built is the solution they want, and needs a working product plus usage data. theLab does the market half.
